Org Explorers: Proactive Patching With Jamf App Installers

Patching with Jamf App Installers is now easier, more effective, and reliable with a team of Org Explorers. The "Org Explorers" program enables IT teams to have internal volunteers test the latest builds pushed by Jamf App Installers (automatic updates) while the rest of the organization uses an N-2/N-1 manual patching cadence–updating as needed for CVEs or vulnerabilities. This approach provides control over update timing, avoiding disruptions during critical business periods, and allows for significantly more control with patching and versioning.

The N-2/N-1 manual update method lets IT teams manage the deployment of supported app versions while testers evaluate app updates before organization-wide deployment, ensuring a proactive approach to addressing new bugs, features, and improvements.

Attendees will learn to:

- Create and scope deployment groups

- Create two versions of an App Installer (automatic updates for Org Explorers and manual updates for the N-2/N-1 group)

- Access the API

- Use scripts to manage membership

- Create enroll and opt-out policies in Self Service

- Manage deployments, user communication, and feedback

Demo and Q&A will follow the session.
